Job summary

You will work in a small team to provide a collection and delivery service of various waste streams across site, in line with a weekly schedule and reactive tasks as instructed by the Property Service helpdesk and waste management team.

The services are essential in contributing to the efficient delivery of a safe clean environment, in line with the National Cleaning Standards 2021.

Each team member is allocated a specific area to cover daily and must ensure they adhere to the set schedule. There may be occasions when staff will be asked to assist in other areas.

Main duties of the job

  • Moving full (240L, 360L, 770L & 1100L) wheelie bins, waste bags, cardboard, boxes, glass, food and other types of waste from the waste holds to designated areas
  • Ensuring replacement waste bins are delivered to designated waste holds
  • Checking bins in the waste holds to ensure that waste segregation is being adhered to and report discrepancies by capturing an image and notifying the waste supervisor / domestic supervisors before correcting
  • Spot checking waste holds and reporting when cleaning is required (ensuring the walls are clean and the floor is swept and mopped)
  • Clean bins as required between service provider visits
  • Compliance to Health & Safety Regulations - all aspects of moving waste, following training given.
  • Ensure compactors (general waste & dry recycling) are used in line with manufacturers guidance and training and that waste is crushed in the correct general or recycling compactor
  • Liaise with Property Service Helpdesk to attend and exchange full confidential waste consoles, ensuring that paperwork is accurate, and the helpdesk is made aware when jobs are complete. Adhering to all site rules in relation to confidential waste.
  • To ensure you are always present in your place of work.
  • To develop a good knowledge of the site, waste holds and designated areas to enable efficient working practices
  • To ensure that all cleaning tasks carried out in accordance with the NHS Cleaning standards or equivalent.
