Clinical Research Nurse Haematology/Oncology
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated paediatric research nurse to join our dynamic research nursing team. We are looking for a motivated individual with experience of cancer nursing who is willing to learn and develop their skills in clinical research.
The Haematology/Oncology research team works within the Research and Innovation division to care for patients undergoing treatment on early phase clinical trials. We work closely with the clinical teams within the cancer service also offering support for some aspects of late phase trials. Our trials portfolio is wide ranging from interventional, through to biological and observational studies. These are national, European and International studies both commercial and academic. We are a designated Experimental Cancer Medicines Centre (ECMC) and a designated 'first in child' centre meaning we often provide access to trials that are not available elsewhere.
Main duties of the job
This successful applicant will work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary team including a dedicated research Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) and clinical fellows. You will work alongside the band 7/6 research nurses, and the non-clinical teams to lead and coordinate the delivery of the Haematology/Oncology speciality research portfolio. You will work clinically with the team and promote high standards of both patient care and research practice.
You will act as the patient's keyworker and so responsibilities include education of patients, families and colleagues. Co-ordination of care including booking of visits and investigations. As a research nurse, you will be involved in the collection of biological samples, and trial specific data collection, and you will be expected to administer experimental agents and monitor patients for side effects, reporting these as appropriate.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated paediatric nurse with Cancer care experience. You must have effective organisational skills and be looking for a new and exciting challenge. You should demonstrate the ability to manage your own workload and to work as part of a team.
