Job summary

An exciting opportunity has risen for a Band 6 Assistant Service Manager (ASM) in the Body, Bones and Mind Directorate within the Specialist Neonatal and Paediatric Surgery (SNAPS) and General Paediatrics teams.

The ASM provides the line management of a busy administrative team, comprising different roles in both clinical and non-clinical areas. This team is responsible for the provision of a high-quality administrative support service to clinical and non-clinical colleagues, and maintain efficient and smooth delivery of care to our patients.

We are looking for an individual with a strong operationalbackground and a patient-centred approach to improving healthcare services and making a real difference at GOSH.

Main duties of the job

The Assistant Service Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the operational delivery of good-quality, person-centred patient care, line management of administrative teams as well as accurate data quality and data reporting within the division.

The post holder will be required to liaise with both Service Manager and clinical colleagues to support day-to-day operations, collect and submit data relating to several Trust data requirements and support the administrative team in improving Data Quality standards across the services. This includes supporting the delivery of patient access targets such as RTT.

The post holder will also provide practical support to the management team with other tasks such as assisting in the production of specialty specific service reports as directed, taking minutes as and when required and will be expected to support work in other areas of the Directorate cross covering and supporting other services if required.

The role will also include managing and resolving PALS complaints, ensuring high clinic and theatre utilisation, presenting at relevant speciality business meetings and having to have difficult conversations with patients/families when required.
