Job summary

At GOSH we advance care for children and young people with complex health needs so they can fulfil their potential. It is important that children and young people with complex health needs have access to the right tertiary specialist teams quickly, so they can get expert advice, the right care and the best outcomes.

Reporting to the Clinical Site Director, the Lead Bed Manager will be responsible for leading the Bed Management team to optimise capacity and patient flow across our hospital. The post holder will work with the Head of CSPs, Lead Discharge Coordinator, and the wider operational and clinical team to ensure patients are located in the right place at the right time with the right staff to obtain the right treatment and care. The post holder will promote the development of an open and engaging culture for patients and staff that encourages excellence in clinical practice, facilitates team working and multi professional care delivery. This will ensure that GOSH is able to treat as many children and young people as possible in a timely manner, achieving our aim to go 'above and beyond'.

Main duties of the job

Safe patient placement and site wide patient flow.

Ensuring the safe placement of patients on elective and emergency pathways working in partnership with the clinical teams, leading on policy development and standard operating procedures to support this

Managing information and data related to patient flow

Leadership and excellent negotiating and communicating skills
