Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Carpenter to join our Space and Place Directorate, working with the Fire Health & Safety team as a Fire Door Maintenance Operative.

The successful candidate will be a proactive and experienced individual with intuitive service skills, work with minimal supervision, providing maintenance, repair and replacement services as necessary to the Fire Safety Team. Undertake both reactive repairs and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme to help prolong the life expectancy of fire doors. . We are looking for hard working individuals who demonstrate close attention to detail, good knowledge, record keeping and have a positive approach to their work.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are essential for this role.

Main duties of the job

  • To assess the state of fire doors in Compliance with all HTM's (Healthcare Technical Memorandum's) statutory and mandatory requirements and guidance regulations.
  • Make repairs to fire doors when possible
  • Respond to emergency and urgent repair requests in a timely and effective manner, restoring services where possible or making services safe until more extensive or specialist work can be undertaken and completed
  • Record and report any further work required as necessary
  • Work with minimal supervision to complete planned and reactive fire door maintenance work
  • Respond to emergency and urgent calls as required.
