Job summary
This is a 30 month, time-limited full time appointment to work on an NIHR-funded, multi-centre project called OPTICAL (Optimising Paediatric Transition to Intensive Care for AduLts), which is led by UCL CORU in collaboration with GOSH, Imperial College, London and others.
The research fellow will be responsible for all aspects of data collection and analysis in the second work-package - in particular, liaising with charities to run the online forums, undertaking interviews with TYA who have experienced transition to adult intensive care in England and Wales and their families, staff from paediatric and adult services and charity staff, and liaising with charity and hospital staff to undertake online patient, family and staff surveys.
You will work with the workstream lead to identify and develop a dynamic work plan that underpins the completion of and significant contribution to the research project. In addition, the post holder will work alongside other members of the Centre for Outcomes and Experience Research in Children's Health, Illness and Disability (ORCHID) to support nurses and allied health professionals (AHPS) in all aspects of the research process, facilitating their involvement in research and assisting them in disseminating research findings to advance the care of children and young people.
Main duties of the job
- To work alongside the lead for work-package 2 to develop a work plan with achievable goals.
- To be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of work-package 2, working closely with co-investigators where appropriate.
- To undertake and manage all aspects of work-package 2, in accordance with ethical and funding permissions including delivery against defined milestones.
- To undertake and lead on all aspects of work-package 2 data collection (online forum, interviews, surveys/questionnaires) data analysis, and dissemination.
- To provide support for patient and public involvement and engagement activities.
- To apply expert analysis skills to critically appraise and synthesise information and data collected.
- To liaise with the wider research team, attending monthly meetings and reporting on progress and updates.
- To work with the wider research team to synthesise findings into funding reports and papers suitable for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- To take opportunities to disseminate locally as appropriate.
- To prepare and distribute lay research reports for patients, families and charities.
- To actively disseminate research findings and knowledge through a wide range of publications and conference presentations, both nationally and internationally
