Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a full time (10PA) locum consultant to join the existing team of 5 Consultant Paediatric Urologists and 1 Associate Specialist as part of the Urology Department, in the Sight & Sound Directorate at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 10PA per week post. This position is a Locum appointment for a Fixed Term of 6 months with an on-call commitment of 1:7 (Optional). The post is initially for a 6 month fixed term, with a possibility to extend.
This post has arisen due to the current locum consultant going on maternity leave.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will be managerially and professionally accountable to the Chief of Service for the Sight & Sound Directorate ( Mr Christopher Jephson). Clinically, the appointee will work to deliver the highest possible standards of care for patients within the urology unit. The appointee will be expected to:
Participate in the provision of a comprehensive tertiary level paediatric urological service including urological surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children
To participate in clinical governance activities with the objective of ensuring a high standard of patient care
To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training of health care professionals
Undertake regular operating and outpatient sessions at GOSH and further develop the joint working strategy of the Unit with UCLH.
Delivery of high-quality clinical care is dependent on excellent teamwork. It is essential that the successful candidate aspires to the highest possible quality of care and is able to work harmoniously with all those contributing to the care of the patients. This will include staff of all disciplines within and outside of the urology department. An ability to communicate well with children and young people's parents' is essential.
