Job summary

This in an exciting time to join Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS foundation Trust (GOSH) and the Operations and Images department. We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and motivated nurse/ODP who is interested in job sharing the Band 7 role in APOA will ensure the provision of high quality and safe services.

We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, enthusiastic and dedicated person with passion for outstanding family centred care and uncompromising on patient safety and experience.

You will work closely with the rest of the team, consisting of senior staff nurses/ODPs, healthcare assistants, administrative staff and in partnership with the anaesthetic consultants to ensure that the service is delivered effectively and efficiently. The team is currently expanding and growing to meet the service demand of the Trust, as well as adhering to the national guidelines.

The post holder will be a key member of the directorate management team. Together with the specialty leads and service manager.

You must provide visible and approachable leadership ensuring leading by example and embody tout Trust 'Always' values. You will encourage and empower your teams to ensure the implementation of high quality and safe care in and environment of ongoing learning, innovation and improvement.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide effective leadership, expertise, advice and support to a team/department and ensure the provision of high quality care to children/young people and families
  • To lead on the ongoing development of the Anaesthetic pre-operative assessment service
  • To act as a role model and expert practitioner
  • To be responsible for the leadership and operational management of APOA team, informing the Matron/Head of Nursing of anything that threatens to affect the safety of the environment or to compromise the care of the patients.
  • To effectively contribute to the management of human, material and financial resources within anaesthetic in order to provide a high quality patient focused service
  • To manage and maximize the use of nursing resources within the agreed budget, including the efficient use of bank and agency staff, authorisation of bank/agency time sheets as appropriate, and working closely with Matron, Head of Nursing and Service Manager.
  • To foster an environment conducive to learning, enquiry, and research
  • Demonstrate a professional approach to work, and act in accordance with the GOSH Trust Values and the NMC/ HCPC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.
  • To critically reflect on own performance through peer, network, team feedback and clinical supervision
