Job summary

In line with recommendations from the ongoing Cass Review, we are recruiting to part time sessions, in order for staff to maintain a broad clinical perspective by working across related services within other secondary and tertiary centres. It is expected that staff members will therefore work across at least one other clinical specialism area, in addition to this role within the gender service.

We are seeking skilled and compassionate individuals to join the new NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (London) in the role of Specialist Clinical /Counselling /Applied Psychologist or Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.

For posts based in Inner London, the above salaries will include the additional supplement of 20% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £5,132 per annum and a maximum payment of £7,746 per annum.For posts based in outer London the above salaries will include the additional supplement of 15% of the basic salary. Minimum payment of £4,314 and maximum £5,436.

This role can also be offered as a linked grade role which is designed to develop you from a Band 7 to a Band 8A through a comprehensive training programme with support from the management team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a specialist psychology service to the NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (London), including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes. Applicants should have experience of delivering high quality, evidence-based care to children and young people.

The post offers opportunities to develop leadership skills by enabling you to take a key role in a number of exciting service development initiatives.

A new clinical pathway has been developed, based on the recommendations of The Cass Review Interim Report, the NHS England interim service specification, and the expertise of many clinicians from across the Northern and Southern Hubs. The service will be delivered by a wide multi-disciplinary team including paediatricians, mental health practitioners, youth workers, nurses, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists. Who patients see will be dependent on the support and care they need.

Essential

  • oEntry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional training) that has been accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration. -Clinical psychologist: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent; -Counselling psychologist: Doctorate or MSc and PG Diploma in Counselling Psychology
