Job summary

The Dermatology Department is based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and provides services to Sheffield and the wider South Yorkshire region. Approximately 40,000 patients attend the Department (around 10% of patients had suspected skin cancers, requiring a first appointment within 14 days of referral) each year. The Department has access to two Mohs surgeons, three in-house theatres, space in the Trust's new Minor Operation Procedure Suite (MOPS), a phototherapy suite and specialists in the identification and management of contact dermatitis, acne and psoriasis. Our consultants, specialist doctors and nurses carry out over 2,700 surgeries a year. The Department provides clinical support to the Sheffield Children's Hospital and works closely with doctors and nurses in Primary Care, who have specialist interest in dermatology, to deliver minor skin surgery services in the community.

Our aim is to provide the very best standard of care to patients, across the region, requiring dermatological services and to support the multidisciplinary skin cancer service within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

  1. Act administrative lead for the Biologics MDT ensuring patient notes for discussion are available to the MDT and outcomes are clearly documented post meeting.

  1. Developing and maintaining the database within Dermatology enabling surveillance of patients with specified medical conditions and accurate drug delivery.

  1. Collating and entering data to assist in research, audit and clinical governance projects, both local and National led.

  1. Producing reports from the database as requested by the clinical team to monitor capacity, treatment pathways and policy compliance.

  1. Monitoring data quality and compliance with quality assurance indicators.

  1. Developing a working knowledge of all the software packages used within the service, particularly Microsoft Access & Excel.

  1. With the support of Clinicians and Clinical Nurse Specialists, monitoring the audit trail of patient information ensuring confidentiality is maintained.

  1. Ensuring that accurate scheduling of patients and documentation is completed and sent to patients.

  1. To message take, signpost and direct patient concerns through the long term conditions helpline.

  1. Ensure high cost drugs are entered onto the BluTech System.
