Job summary

An incredible opportunity has arisen within the Practice Education Team in the Core Clinical Services Division at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The post on offer is for a permanent full-time equivalent Practice Educator, focusing on our amazing Team and the care they expertly provide. Your role will be to with ensure the continuing education and training of all nursing and ODP staff. As one of our Practice Educators, you will be leading on the developing and implementing of education for our existing Teams as well as leading on the continued education of our Apprenticeship staff, ODP and Nursing Students as well as post registered students and New Starters from all professional backgrounds.Working alongside the Team Leaders in Operation and Images and the Practice Educator Team as well as the Lead Practice Educator, you will demonstrate to us your clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a real passion and love for teaching and learning. You will use your leadership skills, educational experience, and clinical knowledge to enhance the learning environment and facilitate staff development to promote continuous quality improvement of patient care within the operation and images division and the Trust as a whole.The role will require you to work a minimum 50 % in a clinical educational capacity alongside the teams. This will also allow you to work alongside our Team members, Students and New Starters to facilitate any teaching, learning and development.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Practice Educator will be to work alongside the Head of Nursing, Lead Educator and Matron in theatres to ensure high quality, effective and safe care for all children, young people and families. The Practice Educator is charged with ensuring the continuing education and training of all nursing and ODP staff. They will be committed to developing staff through an integrated strategy that combines individual strengths and personal interests within the overall unit goals. The Education Team is the catalyst which drives forward the boundaries of excellence within the unit to foster the learning culture which is vital to our success. Working through the personal level allows the practice educator to identify individual strengths and weaknesses and so match them to the relevant education/training and staff development.
