Job summary

Our inpatient CAMHS service (Mildred Creak Unit) is expanding! Now is the time to join our team as we widen our scope and services. We are looking for Mental Health, Paediatric, Learning Disability registered nurses and Healthcare Assistants with CAMHS experience to be part of our growth.

Working within a therapeutic environment, you will work within a team of nurses and multidisciplinary team. You will acknowledge the importance of every interaction with a young person as an opportunity to be therapeutic. Therefore, adaptability and flexibility of your communication and organisational skills and style is a must. You will support a structured routine for young people, offering containment to the family and young people while enjoying an autonomy to encourage greater collaboration and empowerment opportunities in their treatment journey.

As a staff member within the service, you will benefit from a structured timetable (e.g. weekly meetings at 2pm, which include nurse led teaching, group discussion, MDT meetings and teachings and monthly team reflective meetings). You will also be supported with a weekly facilitated nurse support meeting and monthly individual supervision.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high- quality nursing care to children, young people and families.
  • To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner.
  • To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
  • To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice.
  • To undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the Ward Manager /Team Leader.
  • To be familiar with and adopt the principles of the NHS Chief Nursing Officers vision for Compassion in Practice (NHS Commissioning Board Dec 2012)
