Job summary

Would you like to be a nurse educator within a passionate, expert, ambitious and innovative team dedicated to the transformation of children and young people's services?

The North Thames Paediatric Network (the Network/ NTPN) prides itself on bringing together 25 provider hospitals in the North Thames region (19 DGHs and 6 providers of specialist services).

We have a very clear vision: to function as a virtual children's hospital across the North Thames area so that every child in any hospital gets access to the best high level care possible. This is very ambitious, but it is something that we can achieve if we work together. In a seamless healthcare system, it is possible, and we need to make it work for our children.

The Network prides itself on its' members working collaboratively regardless of organisational boundaries to develop cost-effective, new models of paediatric specialist care that are planned around children and young people's care needs rather than the service itself.

The Network supports patients, families, clinicians and organisations by providing access to specialist resources, education and expertise. It helps to deliver improvement programmes; co-ordinating patient pathways and providing objective data to support best practice reflective of national and international guidance.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will need to work closely with the network clinicians, networking nursing team and multidisciplinary teams across the network area. The post holder will play a pivotal role in developing, improving and maintaining high quality education services across the network. The post holder will be developing educations programmes for staff across the network work streams, to support clinical staff providing care to paediatric patients.

You will also be a key influencer in the development of clinical protocols and strategies to enhance continuity and standards of specialist care across the network area.

You should have proven experience in delivering education and training within the subject area of Paediatric Critical Care and High Dependency Care. You should feel confident in also assisting (sometimes leading) in developing education programmes within the other Network work stream subject areas.

You should have experience and a level of confidence in creating and delivering education programmes that are delivered online (e.g. Microsoft Teams/Zoom webinar format) in addition to the more regular training formats (e.g. face to face/practical/SIM based training). Ideallyyou should be well networked with other nurse educators within the network area. You should have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage expert speakers to contribute to educational content.
