An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and talented Associate Practitioner to be part of the Histopathology Research Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH).

GOSH is an international centre of excellence in the provision of specialist children's health care, with over 60 specialties, providing the widest range of paediatric services of any hospital in the UK. The lab supports GOSH as well as acting as a specialist referral centre for hospitals, clinics and clinicians across the world.

Together with our research partner, the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, we form the UK's only academic Biomedical Research Centre specialising in paediatrics.

Our purpose is to advance care for children and young people with complex health needs so they can fulfil their potential. Our lab plays an essential role and we are looking for a fantastic person who puts the patient at the centre of everything they do.

The Histopathology department comprises a consultant-led team providing a comprehensive tissue-based paediatric diagnostic service (ISO:15189) that includes: Paediatric pathology, Neuropathology, Muscle pathology, Metabolic disease pathology and Autopsy (including perinatal post mortem).

Main duties of the job

The main role of this job is to support neuro-oncology translational research. You will be part of the Histopathology Research team and work together to ensure lean working practices, including workflow, database maintenance, and specimen archive / storage.

The department is highly research active and the successful candidate will be required to assist with a variety of projects, including research and development.

We are leading the national quality improvement program to digitise paediatric pathology using whole slide imaging and the post holder, as part of the team, will be involved in the transformation of histopathology and new ways of working.
