Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Haematology/Oncology Clinical and Research Pharmacy Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. We are looking for a pharmacist to provide both a clinical and research service to the patients recruited to the Early Phase Paediatric Cancer Clinical Trials. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team contributing to the timely set up of the Cancer Research portfolio and ongoing management of the study. You will also ensure a pharmaceutically appropriate clinical service to children with cancer, and in accordance with GCP and GMP. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about paediatric haematology, oncology as well as contributing to improving the patient/carer experience.
You must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. Some experience of paediatric cancer research is desirable. You will gain knowledge on all aspects of novel cancer therapies and early Phase Trial management including. There will be an opportunity to develop the services to the ward and the research unit.

Main duties of the job
- To ensure that the Paediatric Cancer CTIMPs and ATIMPs Clinical Trials are conducted in accordance with GCP, GMP, and all other relevant medicines regulations and ethical requirements
- To provide a good framework of pharmaceutical care through effective drug history taking and documentation, screening of different medication charts in accordance with the specifics of the clinical trials protocol, evaluating efficacy and toxicity of the investigational medications used, observing and reporting risk issues relating to the use of the investigational medications
- To support the Senior Specialist Pharmacist, for Haematology and Oncology Clinical Trials in the timely setup of new studies
- To ensure that pharmacy documentation is accurate and up to date based on the latest approved protocols and amendments
- To work closely with the cytotoxic unit for the safe provision of chemotherapy
- To participate and lead in the teaching/training of foundation year pharmacists, postgraduate pharmacists, nurses and medical staff as appropriate
- To attend departmental meetings, stay informed and maintain CPD, and communicate information
- To comply with all Trust and Departmental policies & procedures, work safely and efficiently.
