Here at GOSH we are recruiting to several vacancies within our busy Estates Maintenance Department; the team are responsible for the maintenance of the Trust's properties and equipment. We are patient and customer focused, aiming to always provide a consistently high-quality service through teamwork and respect of each other's trades.
As a Maintenance Plumber (Plumbing Tradesperson) at GOSH, you will undertake plumbing and some mechanical piped system maintenance, repairs, upgrades and improvements across the to a high standard without direct supervision, ensuring at all times compliance with Trust's safety standards and procedures, ensuring a safe and compliant environment for patients, visitors and staff.
For any of our roles, you will have strong and effective communication skills, be self-motivated, and have the ability to motivate others and work well under pressure. You will be enthusiastic, helpful and have a sense of pride in your work and will have a flexible approach to deal with unknown circumstances as and when they occur. The roles are likely to be challenging but will be incredibly interesting and rewarding.
Main duties of the job
- Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems.
- Inspect and test plumbing systems to identify and diagnose issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair water heaters, drains, fixtures, and other plumbing components.
- Carry out site measurements and materials estimations, passing on requirements to the Team Leader for purchasing.
- Learn new skills and undertake multi-skilled jobs.
- Advise, instruct and train colleagues, and other groups, in the safe operation of equipment and systems.
- Create and maintain IT based reports, spread sheets and documents to ensure that maintenance records are accurate, up-to-date and secure.
- Liaise with and assist external contractors including arranging access and facilitating the shutdown of essential plant and systems.
