Band 7 Surgical Dietitian
Fixed term (1 year maternity cover) 37.5 hours per week.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Dietitian to join the Surgery, ITU & Respiratory Dietetics Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
You will be responsible for delivering a dietetics service to patients under the care of the specialised neonatal and paediatric surgical team (SNAPS). The caseload includes inpatients on the surgical ward, remote outpatient consultations and weekly attendance at the surgical parenteral nutrition round. We are looking for an individual with significant acute general paediatric experience.

Main duties of the job
- Responsible for the provision of a comprehensive and quality dietetic service for both in-patients and out-patients working to agreed standards, policies and procedures
- Using highly specialised knowledge to provide high quality nutritional care for patients managed under the specialised neonatal and paediatric surgical team (SNAPS).
- On-going assessment of the patient's needs and making clinical decisions regarding the necessary nutritional support and dietary interventions for all children in the caseload considering their diagnosis, diet history, growth and biochemical parameters and any relevant drug treatments
- Close liaison with the diet service technicians and tasks to support the operation and functions of the Special Feeds Unit and Diet Kitchen (when required)
- Supervising the work of the dietetic assistants and support workers
- Teaching and supporting Band 6 dietitians, diet service technicians, dietetic assistants, dietetic support workers, nursing, medical and other healthcare professionals on all aspects of surgical nutrition through informal tutorials and formal study days and mandatory induction events
- Training the multidisciplinary team in anthropometry and feeding practices
- Freedom to act interpreting the Health Professions Council code of conduct and working to all agreed standards, policies and procedures within the department and the Trust
