Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Parenting and Child Team (PACT) within the Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health at Great Ormond Street Hospital as a Principal Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. PACT comprises the Child Care Consultation Team (CCCT) and the Attachment & Trauma Team (ATT). CCCT is a multidisciplinary team which provides expert witness reports to the family courts, making recommendations relating to children's placement, contact and therapeutic needs and giving evidence where required. ATT provides assessments and treatment for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. The postholder will be based predominantly in CCCT. There is an expectation that the postholder will work flexibly according to service demands and provide psychotherapy for children receiving treatment for long term medical conditions within the hospital. The location of some of the cases in CCCT means that there are occasionally requests for staff to travel. The post is line managed by the trust lead for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. There will be opportunities to undertake additional training as well as learning from co-working cases with clinicians who have substantial experience.

Main duties of the job
The Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (DCAMH) is a tertiary / quaternary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service for children and young adolescents with severe and complex mental health difficulties
The department comprises around 130 members of clinical and research staff including psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers and nurses. They are supported by an administrative team.

- Inpatient - Mildred Creak Unit (MCU)
- Feeding and Eating Disorders Services (FEDS)
- Parenting and Child Team (PACT)
- Social and Communication Disorders Service (SCD)
- Psychological Medicine Team
DCAMH provides highly specialised assessment and treatment of psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders in both children and adolescents. It takes referrals directly from Tier 3/4 consultants in all parts of the country especially if there are particularly difficult problems for which local services want expert advice.DCAMH also provides a psychiatric liaison service to the hospital and a 24 hour on call service for urgent cases.
We provide national specialist services and therefore do not have a local catchment area. Referrals come from across the country, the majority from London and surrounding Home Counties, where there is good local CAMHS provision. This is an ethnically diverse area with a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds
