A post has become available in our Orthopaedic department for a band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist
This role requires expert clinical expertise in the field of Orthopaedics and will focus on expert delivery of care, support, and preoperative management of a cohort of Orthopaedic paediatric patients.
We are looking for a motivated practitioner who can work autonomously whilst demonstrating leadership and collaborative working through multidisciplinary teams for best patient outcomes.
This post will be responsible to a cohort of patients under named consultants , liaising between local hospitals , community teams and organising MDTs to ensure safe admissions and discharges.
For the successful applicant this is an exciting and rewarding role working with some of our most complex and vulnerable children in a warm and welcoming team.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure that the children under the service across the Trust receive high quality evidence based care for the provision of education and support to the patients, their families and staff, due to the accelerator programme and the service backlog this includes patients outlying from the specialty wards
- Ensure pre-assessment takes into account emotional and physical complexities of extended waiting times for surgery
- Provide advice and written information as required in response to telephone contact from parents or health professionals and others caring for these children in local hospitals and in the community.
- Provide strong and effective nursing leadership to ensure the provision of high quality safe and effective care to all children and families in the caseload at all times
- Have lead nursing responsibility for a defined caseload of children and families
- Provide support for the children and their families (under the orthopaedic service) from the day of admission onwards, through education, counseling and skilled advice
