Job summary
We are looking to recruit and experienced and dynamic Nurse to the post of Acting ward managerfor Sky Ward.
Sky ward is 14 bedded surgical spinal and Orthopaedic ward with HDU capacity with a focus onadolescent care.
The post holder will need expert spinal/Orthopaedic and surgical experience, exceptional clinicaland time management skills and the ability to strive for change as this service develops.
Main duties of the job
To provide effective leadership, expertise, advice and support to a ward/department team and ensure the provision of high quality care to children, young people and their families
To ensure the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
To take overall responsibility for standards of cleanliness within the clinical area.
To act as a role model and expert practitioner.
To recruit and retain a skilled nursing workforce and facilitate the development of the all staff within the team.
To provide an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence based practice.
To undertake delegated responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Lead Nurse/Head of Nursing.
To work with the other Ward Managers to ensure safe, efficient and consistent service across the Organisation.
Participate corporately and lead locally in delivering the 'Great Ormond Street Vision
