Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust Trust Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ST1-ST3 Equiv)
This post is a full-time trust grade position to provide full time support to the maxillofacial team and the successful candidate will support the maxillofacial consultants with the day to day running of the department. The position is supported with an SpR and DCT2. They will provide supervised outpatient pre-operative assessment, outpatient reviews and in-patient ward cover. In theatres, there is considerable supervised hands on experience in paediatric maxillofacial procedures .The appointee will also be required and actively encouraged to be part of ongoing clinical audit and research within the department.
The job plan is given at the end of the job description. The post is non-resident. It is ideally suited to someone who is potentially wishing a career in OMFS.

Main duties of the job
Research
The appointee will be encouraged to participate in clinical research that is related to service delivery. The research in general will assist the development of clinical services and organisational objectives of GOS Trust. As GOS Trust is linked with the Institute of Child Health, the appointee will be affiliated to the Group at the Institute.
Teaching
The appointee will be expected at times to contribute to the teaching programme of the department and the Institute.
Accountability
The appointee will be professionally accountable to the Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry and to the Specialty Lead of the department. They will be managerially accountable to the Specialty Lead and Clinical Director
Service Provision and Cover for Absence
8 weeks' notice is required for leave to ensure that the clinical rota is managed accordingly. The appointee is required to provide cover for the DF2 and vice versa.
