Job summary

Do you have what it takes to join an expanding dynamic team and provide specialist radiographer skills in a Paediatric Cardiac Angiography and Interventional Radiology environment? Then this role could be for you!

The role will include mentoring and training junior staff in all procedures, formulating and implementing Quality Improvement Projects, carrying out Audits and deputising for the Superintendent Radiographer.

You will be joining an existing team of Radiographers including the Superintendent Radiographers, Clinical Specialist Radiographers, Static Radiographers and Band 6 Rotational Radiographers. The post holder will work between Diagnostic Imaging, Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Angiography and will have experience in at least one of the above modalities. You will be working closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team in providing this service.

Great Ormond Street Hospital has the largest Paediatric Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Angiography service in the UK. Providing treatments for patients from 0- 18yrs old with a variety of conditions.

Main duties of the job

  • To carry out all aspects of radiographic examinations as directed by the Superintendent Radiographer
  • To assist the Superintendent Radiographer in the day to-day running of the department.
  • To ensure the safe operation of equipment, and any equipment faults are reported and communicated to all staff
  • To have creative approach to performing complex cases and make decisions about when it is appropriate to work outside of departmental protocols in conjunction with the Superintendent radiographer
  • To train and supervise radiographers in line with the training program, ensuring competency goals are set and met.
  • To take a lead on student education when students are working within the department and liaise with the student team within the trust.
  • To undertake imaging research and other research projects as directed by the superintendent and medical staff.
  • To communicate effectively, ensuring all rotational and static radiographic staff are updated on changes made to the protocols used with the department
