Job summary

An exciting permanent position has arisen within the ICT team to work for us as a Imaging Systems Engineer.

You will provide support to the implementation and delivery of the Trust's Clinical Digital Content Programme including a new PACS solution, Vendor Neutral Archive and other accessory imaging systems. They will be working as part of a team tasked with the delivery and ongoing support of several key projects related to the Trust's overarching Digital and Technology Strategies associated with Imaging and accessory systems.

The ICT Directorate is responsible for all IT infrastructure and related services at GOSH including IT hardware & software and many clinical and non-clinical IT systems and applications, for example the Imaging suite and Microsoft 365 which encompasses email, Office, SharePoint and Teams.

ICT manages the Trust's Integration Engine which is a critical tool managing all flows of data between systems, most importantly EPIC.

There are 4 main areas of ICT: Service (ServiceDesk, PCs, RPA), Technology & Cyber Security (security tools and services and networks, data centres & core IT systems), Data & Systems (databases, storage, interoperability) and Development (solutions architecture, business partnering, program & project management).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will communicate with users of all legacy and new systems that provide clinical digital content and their suppliers to aid in the consolidation and migration of data under one imaging solution. This will play a critical part in providing clinical digital content to clinical and research users at any time.

The post holder will play a key role in application implementation and the provision of technical guidance and information about ICT services to suppliers and project teams as required. The post holder will be working mainly with the Trust's Imaging Systems such as PACS, VNA and supporting other accessory systems.

They will be contributing to implementing and supporting clinical digital content systems, delivering project work packages as part of a wider digital content programme of projects and will have opportunities to work with a variety of different systems, file formats and workflows.

The systems that provide digital content are vital to deliver patient information to clinical services and specialties, which will allow them to deliver efficient and effective patient care.

The post holder will be fully aware of the clinical and non-clinical uses of the systems they support and the consequences of any system downtime. To this effect, the post holder must be an excellent communicator who is able to prioritise and plan work to ensure the minimum impact on project deadlines in an overall programme.
