Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Governance and Assurance Pharmacist to provide senior clinical leadership for medicines governance, safety and assurance across the Specialist and Secured Care Delivery Pathway. This is a key strategic role ensuring safe, effective and legally compliant medicines use across complex healthcare environments.
Working with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist - Specialist and Secured Services and senior clinical leaders, you will act as the lead pharmacist for medicines governance and assurance, providing expert oversight, leadership and scrutiny across prescribing, supply, administration and monitoring of medicines, including controlled drugs and high-risk therapies.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide senior leadership for medicines governance, risk and assurance
- Lead Controlled Drugs governance and compliance with medicines legislation
- Oversee incident management, audits, inspections and regulatory assurance
- Develop and implement SOPs, policies and governance frameworks
- Analyse prescribing trends, incidents and assurance data to drive improvement
- Provide professional leadership to pharmacists and pharmacy operational teams
- Lead Quality Improvement initiatives to enhance medicines safety and outcomes
