Job summary
The post is a whole time 10 PA post (part time negotiable) and the 10 PAs will be split into 7.5 DCC and 2.5 SPA. Following appointment to post, the post holder will be supported to have sufficient time for induction, monitoring, identifying areas of special interest and research etc.
The postholder is expected to work across KGH and NGH and there is also an opportunity for mobile working when attending professionals meetings, CPA meetings etc.The post holder will have personal access to IT/ PC and support from a Medical Secretary. Our current recording system (SystmOne) allows for most clinical work to be recorded electronically and the post holder will be able to access the ICE system to check results of blood tests and other investigations.
Consultants are expected to job plan their management and other duties. This is based on actual time on the outlook diary. The on call commitment is 1 in 9, Category A, shared by the consultants. There is a duty Rota between nine and five which are shared by the five emotional well-being consultants and SAS doctors to manage emergencies, and the post-holder is not expected to participate in this.
This is a new post so the post holder will have the opportunity to input into the development of the role, including participating in relevant CPD, establishing working relationships with staff at KGH and NGH and developing clinical pathways.

Main duties of the job
The post holder must have Approved Clinician Status.
They will provide rapid, prioritised and proportionate psychiatric assessmentand management of mental health needs within Kettering General Hospital (KGH) and Northampton General Hospital (NGH).
The post holder will assume Responsible Clinician (RC) status for inpatients within KGH and NGH who are subject to the Mental Health Act.
Assessment and management of in-patients on paediatric wards (and those under 18 years of age on medical/surgical wards) with complex health care needs including co-morbid physical and psychiatric illness within KGH and NGH. The post-holder will be responsible for offering expert advice on clinical issues, formulation and risk assessment for these patients.
Provide senior medical advice and input into the CAMHS crisis team and Intensive Outreach Team.
They will provide a senior interface with NHFT CAMHS community mental health services, Intensive Outreach Team, inpatient services and the ICB to ensure optimum psychiatric liaison services at this interface.
The consultant will liaise with other members of MDT, General Practitioners, hospital and community specialists and other agencies whenever relevant to the treatment and care of young people with psychiatric illness and significant emotional and behavioural difficulties.
The Consultant will also undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients, including the screening of referrals and liaison with other services.
