Job summary

The Children and Young People's ADHD and ASD Service are excited to be recruiting a Carer Peer Support Worker. This is key role in the delivery of specialist services for families and supporters. Carer Peer Support Workers help others by appropriately using their own experiences to inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible, and support families to feel hopeful about the future.

We are looking forCarer Peer Support Workers to work within the Children and Young peoples ADHD and ASD service.

Main duties of the job

Carer Peer Support Workers for Children and young peoples ADHD and ASD service are successfully managing their own wellbeing and have experience of caring for and supporting a loved one who has experience of a neurodevelopmental condition. The aim of the role is to support other individuals who are caring for children and young people using the service.

The role is to compliment the support given by healthcare professionals to inspire hope and empower people to reach their own individual recovery goals and make sense of their personal journey as a carer.

You do not need to have prior peer support experience or training to apply for this role. You will be expected to attend a Peer Support Worker course if you have not undertaken prior training.

A recognised Peer Support training qualification is available.

Applicants who do not indicate that they have lived experience or that of supporting a young person with a neuro-developmental condition in their application will not be considered for the role.

Our experience is that the people most likely to be invited to interview are those who refer to the points on the person specification in their supporting statement.
