An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Registered Health Care professional to work within the Specialist Lymphoedema Service at Cynthia Spencer Lymphoedema Service.
We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and experienced Lymphoedema Specialist Nurse or any Allied Health Professional who is a Lymphoedema Specialist to join our specialist palliative team on a 12 month fixed term contract. We are a friendly, professional and supportive multi-disciplinary team, who set out to provide high quality care throughout Northamptonshire. The Lymphoedema Specialist service provides specialist assessment and treatment for patients who have Lymphoedema (excess swelling) directly associated with their cancer.
Main duties of the job

Undertake supervised holistic assessments of patients with Lymphoedema
Develop and implement treatment plans initially with guidance, progressing to greater autonomy as competencies increase
Deliver therapeutic interventions including:
Skin care and infection prevention
Self and manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) (SLD)
Measuring and fitting of compression hosiery
Promote Patient education self-management and independence of their lymphoedema
Undertaking compression bandaging, THOR treatments and Lymph assist
Teaching patient Exercise and movement
o To be able to self -manage, using appropriate judgement to identify emotionally challenging situations and productively managing such scenarios.
o Undertake liaison and communication with members of medical, nursing, allied health professional and social services in all settings.
o Maintain patient records and collect data where necessary using information technology systems for internal and external audit.
o Maintain an appointment system allowing provision of patient follow-up and monitoring of waiting times.
o Provide mentorship and support for students and learners within the Lymphoedema service.
o Contribute towards the planning, delivery and evaluation of a lymphoedema education program for health care professionals in all settings.
o Supports and acts as a resource for other healthcare workers and oversees directly clinical activity of non-qualified staff.

- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC Registration or HCPC registration for AHPs
- Recognised qualification in palliative care or equivalent
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
- Knowledge of up to date clinical trends and practices in lymphoedema
- Experience of community, vascular or cancer care
- Significant post registration experience, of which recent experience must be at B5 or B6
Desirable
- Post registration qualification in subject linked to specialty e.g. Oncology, Lymphoedema
- Experience of Multi-layer bandaging
- Knowledge of compression therapy or chronic oedema
- Experience of management and development of staff
