The Substance Misuse Team at HMP Nottigham, are seeking a dynamic enthusiastic Substance Misuse Practitioner to join the team. Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • To carry a psychosocial case load with responsibility for assessing, care-planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
  • To undertake comprehensive assessment of patients needs following referral to the service and completion formulations to advise patient care.
  • To plan programmes of psycho-social interventions using evidence based practice.
  • To lead/co-facilitate group work relevant to substance misuse and offending behaviour.
  • To effectively plan for patient discharge and prison transfer and/or release in conjunction with community services, ensuring appropriate transfer of patient information and management of highlighted patient risks including facilitating take-home naloxone training.

Essential

  • Either a current professional registration e.g. O.T, Social Work, Counselling and/or relevant degree in Drug and Alcohol Counselling.
  • Approx 2 years experience of community or custodial environment related Substance Misuse multidisciplinary work. This could include substantial voluntary work or work in a related field e.g. housing
  • Experience of working with patients presenting with challenging behaviours.
  • Experience of managing own work in a team setting

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a secure setting

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Evidence / Ability to undertake comprehensive assessments.
  • Excellent and effective written, verbal and non- verbal communication skills.

Desirable

  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills.
