An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the S&LT team in a newly developed team as a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist for Children with Special Educational Needs (SEND).

You will be joining a dynamic and supportive team and will be integral part of service development - Care Pathways and SOP's.

Main duties of the job

The Children's Speech and Language Therapy Team provides assessment, treatment and advice to children and young adults aged 0-19 with a wide range of needs. We work in partnership with families, other health professionals and colleagues in education to maintain a holistic approach to the management of the child.

Work in partnership with others e.g. parents, carers, education, and other health and or social care colleagues to ensure a positive outcome for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) as identified in their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Independently manage a caseload of complex cases within the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Team who have speech, language, and communication needs within their EHCP, using evidence based and child centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intervention.

Work directly with children with a variety of speech, language, and communication needs and indirectly, through their parents/carers and education colleagues, upskilling them in the child/young person's programme and appropriate strategies to provide the required daily support.

Provide timely S&LTadvice, reports and programmes to be integrated within the child or young person's daily curriculum, including attending Annual Review meetings and updating SLT recommendations and provision, as part of a child or young person's EHCP. They may be required to participate in the tribunal process as requested by the LA's.
