Job summary

Are you a Registered B5 Speech & Language Therapist? We have an exciting opportunity for a B5 to join our newly established S&LT EHC team for a fixed term period to cover maternity leave. The team are a dynamic, forward thinking service with the opportunity this offers to be at the forefront of service development and implementation.

The post holder will provide assessment and evidence-based intervention to children and young people (C&YP)with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) as identified in their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Work in partnership with others e.g. parents, carers, education, and other health and or social care colleagues to ensure a positive outcome for C&YP.

The post holder will provide information and support to parents, carers, the wider children's workforce and other professionals.

Manage own delegated caseload of children independently across a variety of settings.

Work with school staff, the multidisciplinary team and the wider children's workforce to provide a co-ordinated approach to children's speech, language and communication needs.

Working life

As a Children's Speech and Language Therapist, you'll

  • Provide a wide range of clinical assessments,
  • Provide interventions which are determined by specialist care pathways
  • Offer direct support to children, young people, their families, education, health and social care colleagues.
  • Utilise technology to enable you to update records as you go

The service aims to provide an excellent standard of care that supports patients across Northamptonshire. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the service and balance clinical appointments with other responsibilities and allocate significant time for intervention in every role.

You will need to be adaptable and resourceful. You'll need to be well organised, confident and able to cope in diverse situations to deliver patient care. Leadership and management skills are also important, as with all nursing roles, communication skills, problem solving and good judgement are crucial.

You will have an induction period with shadowing and joint sessions, as well as regular peer group supervisions if applicable
