Main duties of the job
As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you'll play a vital role in delivering and leading physical healthcare services within the prison. You'll manage your own caseload, respond to emergencies, run nurse-led clinics, and support junior staff through supervision and development.
Our Mental Health Team provides a comprehensive seven-day service, delivering both primary and secondary mental health care within the prison. As a core member of this team, the post holder will play a central role in delivering a safe, effective and responsive mental health service to those in our care.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the mental health needs of the prison population.
- Support the Matron for Mental Health in developing operational and clinical structures that enhance service delivery.
- Provide high-quality, patient-centred care while actively promoting the core values of dignity, respect, care and compassion.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of wider service models and best practice in mental health care.
- Contribute to building strong working relationships across the wider prison establishment to improve continuity of care and service effectiveness.
