Specialist and Secured Service Specialist Podiatrist

Job summary

NHFT Specialist and Secured Services is offering a podiatrist an exciting and unique opportunity to work somewhere completely different; within prison and immigration removal centre (IRC) environments. The successful applicant would work part-time, in at least two of the following sites: HMP Bedford, HMP Littlehey and Yarl's Wood IRC.

HMP Bedford is a Category B adult male prison with a resettlement function. HMP Littlehey is a Category C prison for men convicted of a sex offence. Yarl's Wood IRC is a fully contained residential centre housing men, women and adult family groups awaiting immigration clearance.

Podiatry service is integrated within the primary healthcare team. The aim is to provide appropriate and timely care for patients with foot pathology. The podiatrist is supported by GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, physiotherapists, mental health professionals, administrators, and the senior management team, to ensure quality patient care and excellent patient experience.

You will be provided with supervision and mentoring by the clinical lead podiatrist. Mandatory training and other training needs will be identified during the appraisal process to support both your continual professional development and general wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

To provide exceptional podiatry care: you will assess, diagnose, and provide management for a wide range of patients. Your case load will include complex patients with multiple medical conditions and co-morbidities: diabetes, inflammatory arthritis, dermatological diseases, terminal illness, musculoskeletal disorders, and nail pathologies.
