Job summary
There is one post on Shearwater PICU, which is a 7 bedded female psychiatric intensive care unit. It is unique, in that it is the only female ICU within NHFT.
There is also one post on Sandpiper Female Acute Adult Mental Health ward.
The main role of the posts is to support patients in an acute stage of illness, or those presenting with complex emotional needs.
The clinical team leader will need to lead and manage a team, ensuring high quality care is being delivered whilst patient and staff safety and wellbeing is being maintained. The clinical team lead will be expected to undertake risk assessments and formulate decisions based upon these.
They will need to play an active part in decision making, working alongside the MDT to formulate individual care and treatment plans, whilst also communicating effectively with the wider professionals involved with that person's care.
They will be involved with supporting the team, in their professional development, completing supervision, and appraisals, and will assist the ward manager in supporting the team, and completing relevant tasks to their role.
As clinical team leader, there is an expectation that support should be offered to other areas within the unit, and part of their duty will be to be the clinical team leader on call.
This role requires flexibility, personal resilience, ability to work under pressure and an ability to empathise with and support people who have complex needs.
Main duties of the job
They will need to lead with professionalism and working alongside NHFT's leadership behaviours and values.
Lead, coordinate and support the team to carry out clinical duties ensuring delivery of high-quality intensive support and care
Support the Ward Manager and Service Manager in the management and administration of the Unit.
Support and encourage professional and personal development of staff
Support the team to work with service users to achieve their recovery goals and improve their quality of life.
Be a key participant in the Multidisciplinary assessment and admission of individuals to the ward, being active in the care and treatment planning and decision making
To assist the team in completing risk assessments, and care planning around risk
Participate in the nominated Clinical Team Lead rota for the St.Mary's Hospital site
