This post is a rare and exciting opportunity to work somewhere completely different - an immigration removal centre.
This post involves working within a multi-disciplinary team providing primary care, but with a difference.
We are seeking an experienced healthcare assistant to work within an integrated healthcare team. The successful candidate will be an excellent team player who works closely with residents, the health care multidisciplinary team and the immigration service to ensure comprehensive care is provided to residents.
- The post holder will work as part of the Healthcare team, providing care and support to residents within Yarl's Wood IRC in accordance with both NHFT and security guidelines
- The post holder will work in closely with other teams within the centre and with external agencies in meeting the holistic needs of the residents.
- The post holder will, at times, work without direct supervision, undertaking delegated tasks and reporting back to the Registered Nurses.
- The post holder will actively participate in the on-going development of positive working relationships with centre staff and resident's
Main duties of the job
- Display a professional behaviour and attitude at all times in line with NHFT values
- Be able to organise own workload and manage time effectively, under the supervision of the qualified nurses.
- Support the implementation of the Trust's policies and procedures within the healthcare area.
- Undertake clinical observations, report abnormalities and document on System One accurately.
- Follow appropriate infection prevention and control guidelines in order to protect themselves, colleagues and residents.
- Run a variety of clinicsincluding phlebotomy, ECG, smoking cessation, chlamydia screening, NHS health screening clinics.
- Conduct resident reception screenings.
- Be able to maintain accurate, timely and legible records of resident's care, including data input and statistical information, as required
- To conduct ordering, distribution, stock control and maintenance of Healthcare equipment and resources.
- Participate in health promotion events
