Job summary

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of individuals affected by substance misuse? We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Substance Misuse Psychosocial Leadto take a lead role in delivering high-quality recovery services within a prison setting.

As a senior member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will take a lead role in providing the successful and effective delivery of Substance Misuse Recovery Services in HMP Services Offender Health. To work as a Substance Misuse Psychosocial Lead within a multi-disciplinary team in a prison setting, providing care to patients with complex substance misuse problems with co-occurring mental health issues, from the point of entry into the prison system to re-entry into the community so that re-offending is reduced and the health and social functioning of prisoners is improved.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead the delivery of psychosocial substance misuse services in line with national standards and performance indicators.
  • Provide high-quality, person-centred care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Champion both harm reduction and recovery-focused approaches.
  • Ensure services demonstrate value for money and meet the expectations of commissioners.
  • Provide leadership and professional guidance to the staff team, ensuring adherence to policies and the highest standards of care.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Either a current professional registration e.g. O.T, Social Work, Counselling and/or relevant degree in Drug and Alcohol Counselling.
  • Evidence of equivalent training and experience within in the provision of structured psychosocial and clinical interventions, including CBT, Motivational Interviewing skills, RCGP1, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy etc.
  • Approx 3 years experience in prison or community related substance misuse multi-disciplinary work. This could include substantial voluntary work.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in a secure setting.

  • Ability to identify complex issues/situations/information and have the skills to formulate solutions and make recommendations on the best course of action
  • To assess and evaluate risk in relation to substance misuse and mental health-related needs
