Patient Safety Manager

Job summary

To lead patient safety as a member of the Secured Services Turnaround team for Nottinghamshire and Lincoln Prisons and ensure that safety is prioritised and implemented in line with national guidance and the Trust's contractual requirements.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will, but not limited to:

Support the daily management of patient safety processes and effectively manage the investigation of patient safety incidents that occur within Offender Healthcare & Forensics in line with requirements of the NHS Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).

Support the on-going development of an open and honest culture, working collaboratively as needed with the freedom to speak up guardian and HR colleagues.

Support the Trust to implement and deliver PSIRF and collaborate with relevant services to facilitate and embed learning from patient safety incidents.

Education, qualifications and training

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualification, or equivalent experience in managing complex incidents, complaints, and investigations
  • Training in SEIPS/Human Factors
  • Clinical qualification

Desirable

  • Project Management qualification
  • Quality Improvement training to fundamentals level

Experience

Essential

  • Operational experience in the NHS - a minimum of 3 years working in a senior clinical role
  • Knowledge of PSIRF and corporate and clinical governance at an operational level
  • Experience investigating serious incidents.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in complex change environments with multiple stakeholders and securing their engagement

Desirable

  • Experience of working across multiple organisations Working with patients and service users

Skills, abilities and knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Knowledge of PSIRF
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and presenting to large groups
