Job summary
We have a vacancy for a podiatry assistant whose role will be within the Diabetic and High Risk Foot Service team based at St Mary's Hospital Kettering.
You will be part of a dynamic countywide service that supports the delivery of Podiatric foot care and plays an integral role within the team as well as holding your own delegated caseload.
You will provide foot-care; diabetic foot screening, foot health education and manufacture scotch cast boots and support below knee casting for hight risk patients. The role encompasses delivering patient care under the guidance of a podiatrist and may include assisting with nail surgery. The caseload will have a small domiciliary component.
Main duties of the job
You will have knowledge of general healthcare required through NVQ Level 3. Ideally you will hold a certificate for Foot care Assistants (Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists). However, on the job training will be given to attain this certification.
This is a very busy clinic and accessed by a wide variety of people from all age groups. You will, therefore, need a range of skills which will include good interpersonal skills, the ability to produce clear and accurate documentation, basic IT skills, good verbal and written communications and good organisational skills, as well as a calm and helpful attitude with a flexible approach to your workload. You will be required to travel to other clinical sites in North Northamptonshire, so a car driver is essential.
