Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist who is interested in gaining experience in working with looked after children and young people .

As a specialist children's service, NHFT's Integrated Looked After Children's ( LAC) Health Service works across Northamptonshire to support the emotional and physical well being of children in care. Our population of looked after children residing in Northamptonshire is approximately 1200

Main duties of the job

The post holder will help to support and enhance the professional psychological care and assessment of clients within the service, across all sectors of care; providing observational, psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

  • Experience of working with Mental Health related difficulties or developmental trauma
  • Experience of completing mental health related assessments

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience with Neurodevelopment Difficulties
  • At least 1 years experience with children and young people
  • At least 1 year experience with assessment in relation to Neurodevelopmental difficulties
  • Experience of delivering psychoeducation groups to children / professionals
