Job summary

We are currently looking for outstanding Health Care Assistants to join our Adult Inpatient Service at Berrywood Hospital in Northampton. We currently have vacancies on Cove Male Acute ward, Bay Female acute and Harbour Mixed Acute. The roles also involve supporting the Health Based Place of Safety.

We are looking for Health Care Assistants to support in the delivery of outstanding care to this vulnerable group of patients. Delivery of care will include conducting mental health observations, facilitating 1:1 time with patients, escorting patients outside the ward, activities, mealtime support, personal care, physical health observations, recording on patient record, de-escalation of incidents, supporting the Health Based Place of Safety and tasks delegated by the qualified nurses.

Main duties of the job

You will have the ability to observe, report and record changes in patient's behaviour as well as their physical and mental health wellbeing.

You will be expected to work across the current shift system (rotation between night shift and day shift).

The post holder will need to share the core values of NHFT, demonstrating a commitment to clinical excellence, shared leadership & collaborative working which aims to deliver improvement and innovation. Being able to work independently as well as part of an MDT is essential and it is important that the successful candidate is able to foster positive working relationship across services and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. About us

It is essential that you are physically fit enough to engage in physical interventions should the need arise. You will be expected to successfully complete Teamwork (PMVA) as part of your induction to the role; there is an expectation that you will be required to complete this training each year.

We will support you to take responsibility for your learning and development. We will provide you with a full induction if you are successfully appointed. If you are interested in career progression, we also offer committed staff the opportunity to apply for Apprenticeship roles to progress to roles such as Nursing Associate and Registered Mental Health Nurse.
