Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated B6 stroke specialist physiotherapist to join our dynamic therapy team. The successful candidate will be working alongside highly experienced practitioners, who help to comprise a forward thinking multi-disciplinary team within stroke rehabilitation. The post holder would participate in a 7 day service, with weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis.
There is a unique opportunity to be involved in team projects across the stroke pathway in Northamptonshire as we work closely with Northampton General Hospital (NGH) and the Community Stroke Therapy Service ( CST).
The post holder will be working in an integrated multi professional inpatient team that includes physiotherapists, occupational therapist, ward matron, nurses, unregistered staff including therapy assistants, medical staff and wider trust colleagues. The post holder will need to provide quality care for a group of patients, specialising in stroke rehabilitation forming part of the Countrywide stroke pathway.
The Isebrook inpatients beds also provide rehabilitation and sub-acute care from patients stepping down from acute hospitals and step-up patients for acute hospital admission avoidance in a physical health inpatient unit. The role entails extensive involvement in ensuring patients are discharged safely which involves close working with colleagues from other services and liaison with family members and leading and participating in family meetings.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have their own keyworker duties in relation to the team's caseload, working without direct supervision, working as a specialist autonomous practitioner and will be responsible for supervision and delegation to junior therapy team members. The post holder will be required to assist in the rehabilitation of other patients across the Isebrook site in the absence of other physiotherapy colleagues and prioritise workload accordingly.
The post holder will be expected to manage the Stroke Therapy team in the absence of the Therapy Team leader providing support to junior colleagues and assisting them in problem solving any issues relating to patients and staff.
The post holder will lead on all aspects of Physiotherapy and deliver of high-quality therapeutic interventions that meets the needs of the patients. They will be involved in developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the interventions, in the continuing development of the team, participating in the supervision and appraisal process and in professional development of team members.
To undertake the role of clinical educator where appropriate.
