Main duties of the job
The hospice provides 24hr/7days delivery of specialist palliative care to people who are 18 years and over, with life limiting illnesses who require symptom management. Where appropriate the delivery of reversible symptom related treatments are a key part of this role. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be required to communicate sensitively and compassionately with patients who may be approaching the end of their life.
Experience of supervising and assessing students and supporting health care assistants is desirable. Whilst a background in Palliative Nursing would be ideal, Cransley Hospice will provide the training essential to your role. We are looking for a Registered General Nurse with an understanding and interest in specialist palliative care, who can evidence their continual professional development within their existing role.
This 24 hour service requires you to be flexible to a varying shift pattern, this will include early, late and night shifts and includes rotational weekend and bank holiday working. This post is primarily at Cransley Hospice in Kettering, however there is an expectation that you may also support the team at Cynthia Spencer Hospice to meet service demand as required.
