Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking, dynamic Nurse, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to take on the role of Operations Manager for SPC Community team. The team consists of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Therapists and the Hospice at Home team. The post holder will be an inspirational leader who has the drive and passion to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and must have a sound clinical background as will be the most senior practitioner within the SPC Community team. The post holder will be a key member of the leadership team across the whole of Specialist Palliative Care and must have an enthusiasm for collaborative working with other team leaders within the service. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the Service Manager for Specialist Palliative Care to ensure that actions from the recently published Palliative and End of Life Care Strategy are considered and embedded within the teams. The Operations manager will also work collaboratively with both Cynthia Spencer Hospice charity and Cransley Hospice Trust ,a charity partner organisation with NHFT, Service Development Lead as work progresses on developments within the service.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities for the role of Operations Manager are:
- Undertake management responsibility for all aspects of service and operational delivery for the SPC Community Team
- Provide senior clinical leadership for the SPC Community Team
- Actively seek out and disseminate information, governance, best practice and knowledge that supports the development of service delivery, ensuring clinical innovation and quality
- Support the development of the team/s in relation to creating an environment in which excellence in clinical practice flourishes.
- Drive clinical changes in service delivery
- Develop robust interagency relationships with key strategic agencies supporting the development of integrated care pathways.
- Collaboratively along with other Team Leads, take delegated responsibility in the absence of the Service Manager (e.g. annual leave)
- Proactively work with the team lead for End of Life Practice Development Team to ensure expert training and education is implemented both within NHFT but also across the wider community

- Registered Nurse (Adult), OT or Physio with current registration
- Recognised qualification in palliative care, or working towards
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
- Demonstrate commitment to and recent evidence of further education and personal development
- Significant Clinical Leadership experience at Band 6 or above
- Management qualification or evidence of working towards
- Understanding of the broad governance and Quality agenda
