Job summary

This post will cover Wheatfield Low Secure Forensic ward at Berrywood Hospital. We are adopting a trauma informed approach to the service embedding the principles for a population which has a history of trauma and adverse life experiences which affect health and wellbeing who have also offended and are sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

This post will involve gathering information to complete risk assessments, support group work and complete evaluations. There may also be opportunities to complete low level psychological interventions for depression, anxiety, trauma, hearing voices and learning difficulties. The role also includes support for training that is offered to ward staff, working as a team member within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

  • Involvement in psychological assessments.
  • Contribution to risk assessment.
  • Preparation of reports and clinical materials
  • Involvement in psychological engagement (individual and group interventions)
  • Reflective practice and ward based training
  • Engagement in service quality improvement programme, service development and audit
