Base - Willowbrook Health Centre, Corby

The Salaried Primary Care Dental Service provides a range of treatment and screening services across Northamptonshire. This includes the treatment of people with special needs, and those who require a range of specialised treatment and/or management. The service also provides Oral surgery provision.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Oral Health Promotion Specialist to take a lead to continue to develop and implement strategies and programmes aimed at improving the oral health of people living in Northamptonshire. You will have relevant qualification as either a dental care professional (DCP), with a Oral Health Post Qualification or a qualification in public health, and you will have at least 2 years' experience

The ability to organise and to work off your own initiative is essential, along with the skills to communicate and liaise with a broad range of health and other professionals and stakeholders. Main duties of the job

  • To lead the Oral Health Promotion Service, and as required mentor those staff within the team
  • To monitor staff performance in oral health promotion, quality and development in respect of the delivery of OHP services.
  • To participate in the recruitment, selection and induction of new oral health promotion staff/champions as required
  • To develop and maintain links with other health promotion services to ensure that Oral Health Promotion is appropriately provided in schemes with potential for an oral health focus.
  • Provide training in oral health and oral health promotion for other professions and groups
  • Responsible for partnership working with other organisations and professional groups.
  • Develop, Initiate and facilitate community involvement in oral health promotion schemes.
  • Responsible for organising and liaising Oral Health National Campaigns .
  • Take an active part in regular meetings of the local and regional Oral Health Promotion Groups and liaise with the local Consultant in Dental Public Health.
  • To monitor and deliver manual data returns for OHP including KPI information for performance management and Clinical Team Leader for submission
  • Keep records of activities and write reports as required for the commissioners, Consultant in Dental Public Health and Northamptonshire County Council
