Job summary
Two permanent full time/ part time posts will include occasional weekends/ bank holidays.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at HMP Peterborough in the Mental Health Team. We provide an integrated mental health model and deliver services for both men and women, which include perinatal mental health, working closely with primary care and the substance misuse and recovery teams.
The mental health service has a trauma informed approach which acknowledges the relationship between a person's life experiences and mental health. The trauma informed principles include safety, choice, trust, working collaboratively and empowerment.
We are seeking to appoint qualified RMN's/AHP's with a wide range of experience working with mental health clients, the successful candidate will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the care programme approach, stepped care approach and different mental health interventions.
The successful candidate will be innovative, forward thinking, diverse and can work autonomously, you will also need to demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with a knowledge of the detaining sections utilised by the Ministry of justice and the court to aid transfer our clients to hospital.
Main duties of the job
Undertake mental health assessments and risk assessments, and care planning, and implementation and review of service to people referred to the team both individually and with colleagues from other disciplines
To care coordinate those on CPA ensuring that reviews are held in line with policy and guidelines.
To provide structured therapeutic interventions with potentially complex clients in one-to-one session or group settings as appropriate.
To manage a caseload and to prioritise effectively.
To participate in multi-disciplinary team working to ensure service user's needs are met.
To use effective judgement and interventions in emergency clinical situations.
To liaise with other professionals and agencies in the planning and delivery of care for service users ensuring that a quality service is provided within the locality
To develop and maintain productive working relationships with your team, managers, and other colleagues.
To take personal responsibility to keep your knowledge up to date and to reflect on and evaluate your own values in the development of your practice, to maintain up to date professional registration.
To participate within clinical or managerial meetings and team briefing as required
To undertake the assessor/mentor role with students on placement within the service and assist with the teaching of students or junior staff.
