Job summary

NHS Northamptonshire Talking Therapies is expanding and developing their workforce in line with objectives set out in the NHS Long Term Plan. It is an exciting time to join our service as a Lead Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) and would ideally suit an experienced senior PWP looking to develop in their career.

You will provide clinical leadership for the PWP team in providing low intensity psychological interventions for people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression through a wide range of delivery mediums including telephone and online treatment, computerised cognitive behavioural therapy (CCBT) programmes, psycho-educational groups, workshops, webinars, and face to face work.

You will work with the senior management team on supporting staff wellbeing and improving access for different patient populations. In addition, you will support the PWP team in developing special interests within areas such as older adults, perinatal mental health, ethnically diverse communities, and LGBTQ communities.

You will be passionate about bringing the PWP workforce together to share best practice, learn from each other and generate innovative ideas. You will also work in partnership with other health professionals and services to provide the best quality of care.

Main duties of the job

To work with Senior PWP's, PWP's, management team and wider service, to ensure the successful and effective day-to-day running, training, and supervision of the Step 2 component of the Talking Therapies Service so that it provides a responsive, high-quality service to patients with common mental health problems. The Lead PWP will have specific leadareas of responsibility as well as ensuring the effective assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients, whilst maintaining a good level of service user involvement. The role will involve supporting the management team in liaising with stakeholders, managing staff and resources and meeting data collection requirements.

Job responsibilities

1. Manageriala. To contribute to the smooth running of the service by ensuring timely access to assessment, intervention, or onward referral (if required).b. To provide clinical supervision to senior PWP team members.c. To lead and contribute to team meetings and ensure a healthy workplaceand team morale is maintained.d. To participate in the recruitment and induction of new staff as required.e. To liaise with employment advisors and peer supporters inproviding the best possible service to patients.f. To communicate and liaise with outside agencies and respond to issues asthey arise.2. Clinicala. Carry a small caseload of patients offering low intensity psychological interventions.b. Conduct Brief Screening Assessments as required by the service.c. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols.d. Integrate issues surrounding Long Term conditions and employment issues into the therapeutic interventions.

3. Service Improvement and Developmenta. To establish and maintain appropriate relationships with service users and involve them in the ongoing development and delivery of the service.b. To contribute to the development of excellent working relationships withtraining providers, GPs and primarycare teams, partner organizations and social care ensuring partnership work and continuity of care between these areas.c. To lead on specific areas of service improvement and development asagreed with the Senior Management team.

2. Education and Traininga. Jointly with the Senior Management Team and Senior PWP's toplan and manage the training of Step 2 clinical team to meet thestaff developmental needs and requirements of the service.b. To ensure that all staff within the service maintain appropriate knowledge of legislation, national and local policies, and procedures in relation to Mental Health, Primary and Secondary Care Services.c. To participate in training and support for colleagues, and to receive support as agreed.d. To undertake continuing professional development and keep up to date by undertaking appropriate training as agreed within the service.

4. Professional and Governancea. To take part in an individual annual appraisal involving the identification of developmental needs and priorities.b. To keep up to date on new guidelines or healthcare standards and ensurethe service implements all necessary policy and guidance
