Job summary

Band 5 Senior Assistant Psychologist in Child and Adolescent Mental Health & Personality Disorders Hub

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Assistant Psychologist post based in Core CAMHS (0.4) and the young people's sub team in The Personality Disorder Hub (0.6). We are a multidisciplinary team offering Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT-A) to young people and their caregivers, across Northamptonshire. We are committed to decrease stigma and exclusion and we value the opportunity to offer early access to evidence-based intervention. This includes multi-family group skills training and family involvement.

Main duties of the job

We want to recruit a diverse workforce, who are values-driven, compassionate and have a desire to deliver high quality care. A recognised undergraduate degree in psychology is required with experience of working with people with mental health difficulties. The post holder will contribute to DBT-A-informed groups, screening and assessment, service evaluation and development. The post is based in Northampton and involves travel across the county; applicants must hold a valid UK driving licence with use of a car.

About us

The successful candidate will develop their capabilities with supervision from a Principal Clinical Psychologist and peer supervision in a supportive and motivated team. There are a range of development opportunities and strong internal CPD programme. Qualitifications & Experience

Essential

  • An upper second class honours undergraduate degree or higher in psychology and Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society
  • Experience of working with people with mental health difficulties and/or other disabilities as an assistant psychologist
  • Experience of using psychological assessments, formulations, risk assessments and care planning

Desirable

  • Training or experience of DBT-informed interventions
  • Experience and confidence in delivering group-based interventions

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
  • Has training and experience of audit, evaluation and research
  • Experience of databases or data-analysis, & skills in presenting this data

Desirable

  • Ability to communicate sensitive information to clients, carers and colleagues
