Job summary
This post is a full time, one-year fixed term post. The post holder(s) will undertake clinical duties primarily in the Main theatre and Day Surgery Units together with the Obstetric and Intensive Care Units.
The Department needs a general anaesthetist capable of joining the SHO or Registrar on-call rota and complementing the current skill mix. This work covers emergency anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia and intensive care. There is a consultant anaesthetist on-call and a consultant on-call for intensive care medicine, both are always available for support at all times.
The post will therefore have an interesting, varied, and stimulating mix of frontline, out of hours (OOH), acute care of patients for general anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia and intensive care medicine as well as daytime elective surgical lists. The balance of this workload will vary depending of the needs of the department, the frequency of the Out Of Hours shifts will not exceed 1:8.
