Burns & Plastics Specialist Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist

Job summary

We are excited to be recruiting to 2 fixed term / secondment Band 6 specialist therapist posts (1 x 1.0 and 1 x 0.6 FTE) within Burns & Plastic Surgery inpatient therapy. Successful applicants will be part of the MDT assessing and treating adults and children who have sustained burn injuries or plastic surgery reconstruction. Caseload can include amputees, hand trauma, complex limb reconstruction, necrotising fascitis and abdominal reconstruction. We will consider both Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist candidates, dependent on experience.

Main duties of the job

To work as an effective multidisciplinary team member in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of inpatient and outpatient Burns & Plastic Surgery patients and outlying Orthopaedic, Medical and General Surgical patients on Odstock Ward.

To be involved with the teaching and development of the MDT, including clinical supervision of other staff and appraisals

To be an excellent communicator with patients, families and all members of the MDT

To use advanced clinical reasoning and evidence based practice as an autonomous practitioner

To work as part of the weekend therapy rota, approximately 1 Saturday in 4, with a weekday as time in lieu. Also to be part of the Bank Holiday rota.
