Job summary
Maintain the care of patients in the gynaecology outpatient environment to an agreed standard under the supervision of qualified staff.
Main duties of the job
Maintain stocks of stationery and consumables, organising replenishment and repair, as necessary.
Assist doctors with investigations and procedures, including preparation of equipment and supporting patients during outpatient procedures, including LLETZ, Hycosy, Word catheter, Myosure and Novasure treatments.
Organise a clinic independently, preparing, and replenishing equipment, documentation and dealing affectively with errors and omissions.
Recognise clinical emergencies and summon appropriate assistance.
Be aware of the needs of patients with specific conditions, e.g., diabetes, learning difficulties and early pregnancy.
To enter and retrieve specialised data relating to early pregnancy and acute gynaecology on an Outlook calendar.
To undertake bookings for direct colposcopy referrals using Lorenzo and Masey database
Recognise health and safety issues in relation to use of specialist electrical equipment, i.e., loop diathermy, thermo-coagulation, hysteroscopic generator and myosure/novasure equipment. Report faults and ensure corrective measures are completed. Understand how to send used equipment to SDU.
To ensure all tissue specimens collected are appropriately packed and correctly labelled prior to taking to Pathology Laboratory.
Support and observe patients during & after colposcopic & hysteroscopic procedures and treatments.
